Desert Essence 100% Pure Jojoba Oil Cleanser and Moisturizer
Desert Essence's 100% Pure Jojoba Oil is a plant extract that gently cleans and moisturizes the skin, hair and scalp without leaving an oily residue, according to the company.
Jojoba oil’s similarity to skin's natural sebum is said to help it balance oily areas and moisturize dry spots as it gently cleanses and hydrates.
The clear, non-GMO certified golden oil is reported to penetrate and moisturize skin without clogging pores. It is also gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin, per the company.
Jojoba Oil Structure and Function
As previously explained, jojoba oil is a unique natural oil expressed from the seed of the jojoba plant (INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil). It is unlike other “fixed,” i.e. botanically derived, oils in that it is a true wax ester, in contrast to the triglyceride oils often found in the seeds of other botanical species.
Jojoba oil primarily consists of straight chain monoesters of C20 and C22 alcohols and fatty acids with one point of unsaturation on each side of the ester linkage. It is the only known botanical wax ester that remains liquid at room temperature.
In addition, as noted above, its chemical structure is similar to the large wax ester component of human skin sebum, making jojoba oil well-suited to augment skin moisturization and barrier repair.
User Feedback: Desert Essence 100% Pure Jojoba Oil
Following are example user reviews (edited for style), selected for their anecdotal insights on product form and function. (Note that as with most products, the user feedback on the company website is mixed.)
The best part of using this blend, compared to others, is that it does not leave my hair feeling heavy. It can leave your hair greasy if you use too much, but that is the beauty of this oil. A little goes a LONG way, as well as prevents snarling. I have fine hair, and putting a little in my hands then applying to the ends from my neck down, my hair does not snarl. I no longer wake to a snarled mess, nor deal with it throughout the day.
This high grade wax seems to mimic skin oil. It is easily absorbed and feels great.
I use it on my beard. It keeps the skin underneath nice and healthy. Better than any other beard oil I've ever used. Liked it so much I made a video about it on YouTube.
