Symrise has launched the patented SymRenew HPR (INCI: Diisopropyl adipate (and) hydroxypinacolone retinoate (and) tocopherol), an active that provides retinol-like efficacy.

The main benefits of SymRenew HPR include enhanced skin cell renewal without barrier disruptions and the improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reportedly in four weeks.
This active is said to be mild enough to be used twice daily without irritation thanks to its safe and gentle profile, making it suitable for all skin types.
According to the company, the ingredient is stabler than retinol and retinyl esters, being more resistant to oxidation in formulas. In addition, no nitrogen is needed for its manufacturing and formulating.
Applications for this product include well-aging products for the face and body, and dermocosmetics. Additionally, the ingredient is China compliant and is suitable for vegan and halal formulations.
