Silab introduces an Indian plant extract that possesses anti-inflammatory properties to soothe irritated and sensitive skin. Mediacalm (INCI: Not Provided) is an active ingredient rich in hydroxybenzoic compounds from the Boerhavia diffusa root. According to the company, the soothing properties of the plant allow the product to restore the normal skin sensitivity threshold.
Inflammation is reduced with use of the product through the limiting of the inflammation mediator's activity. The product is said to stop NF-kB nuclear translocation and inhibit the release of PGE2.
The product is also said to limit neurogenic inflammation and restore tissue integrity by favoring the production of the anti-inflammatory neurohormone α-MSH. The result is a normal sensitivity, the reduction of pricking, and the reduction of skin erythema.
The product is recommended for all products that treat sensitive skin in men and women, but is specifically recommended for after-shave products. The product was found by the company to possess both long-term and short-term soothing effects. For more information, visit www.silab.fr.
