Slowing Intrinsic and Extrinsic Aging: A Dual Approach
In this dual approach to antiaging, intrinsic factors are first addressed by slowing cell proliferation in skin via a technology based on dormins—in this case, extracts from dormant Narcissus tazetta bulb. Then, to protect against extrinsic aging, colorless carotenoids are employed to absorb UV radiation and prevent oxidative stress damage.

stem cells. Results showed the extract imparted hydration activity in the keratinocytes, stimulated collagen synthesis in the fibroblasts and enhanced adipocyte differentiation starting from mesenchymal precursor cells.

Aquaporins: Stimulation by Vitamins, Steroids and Sugar Alcohols
Aquaporins are proteins that reside in the cellular membrane. In response to osmotic forces, they control the passage of specific materials into and out of the cell. As reported previously, one type of aquaporin in human skin is aquaporin-3 (AQP3). Four personal care companies have studied the world of biochemicals to discover AQP3 stimulators from three different sources: vitamins, steroids and sugar alcohols, which are described here.
