Disclosed in this patent application is a cosmetic composition including white rose extract and a gartanin derivative isolated from it as the active ingredients.

According to the inventors, the composition is safe for skin. It prevents melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase activity, thereby having a whitening effect, and exhibits wrinkle-alleviating effects by inhibiting MMP-1 activity.
