Disclosed in this patent are cells and cell cultures for evaluating ingredients that promote tight junction (TJ) formation, and an ingredient exhibiting said activity.
Specifically, the cell strain and culture thereof are derived from L fibroblasts. They stably induce the polynucleotide encoding and expression of claudin.
The ingredient acting on these cells is NK-93, or N-[2-[N-(4-chlorocinnamyl)-N-methylaminomethyl]phenyl]-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-methoxybenzene sulfonamide phosphate (another name, N-[2-[[[3-(4'-chlorophenyl)-2-propenyl]methylamino]methyl]phenyl]-N-(2- hydroxyethyl)-4'-methoxybenzene sulfonamide phosphate).
According to the inventors, this agent is useful as an additive for cosmetic compositions and is useful for the treatment of diseases or conditions related to TJ formation, such as ulcerative colitis, atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma.
