The Balancing Act of Multifunctional Cosmetics

According to a report by Imogen Matthews, the success of BB creams is undeniable, and it has launched an alphabet-heavy trend, with skin and hair care offering products bearing CC, DD and EE names. Convenience, ease of use, portability and value are some of key attributes these creams use to appeal to consumers. However, what challenge do they pose for formulators?

Given the multitude of chemistries used to provide all these benefits, it can be a real balancing act. Therefore, Prithwiraj Maitra, PhD, will discuss the challenges of multifunctional products and their components from a material scientist's perspective during the Cosmetics & Toiletries (C&T) Summit on June 22, 2015.
