"I think when it comes to the skin microbiome, there’s a lot of pseudoscience being done," says Travis Whitfill, co-founder and CSO of Azitra Inc. "So my goal for [the article] was to push the more technical and scientific basis of the skin microbiome in relation to cosmetics and potential skin therapies, and to anchor to the recent science."
Whitfill authored a feature article in Cosmetics & Toiletries on "Commensal Cosmetics," which is appearing in our April 2018 edition. In his Author Commentary podcast, he describes the potential of skin's microbiome in product development. He also explores areas where science needs answers for effective application. Whitfill will also speak on this subject at the Skin Microbiome Congress, to be held May 30-31, 2018, in Boston. Visit the event website to learn more.
