Sustainability in the beauty industry is no longer just a trend—it’s a necessity. From reducing carbon footprints to embracing responsible sourcing, the focus on creating eco-friendly and ethical solutions continues to grow. This year, in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam brings together leading experts and innovative brands to showcase the latest advancements in sustainability, offering insights and actionable strategies to drive meaningful change in the personal care sector.

Recyclable and reusable esters produced by enzymes will be showcased, along with the latest innovations in sustainability from suppliers like Provital, Nouryon, AAK Sweden, and more. Visitors can explore new solutions shaping the industry’s future.

The Sustainability Theatre will host expert insights from leading voices such as AAK, Lanxess Deutschland, and Beauty Kitchen. Topics include eco-design, responsible sourcing, circular economy strategies, and reducing Scope 3 emissions to lessen environmental impact.

Barbara Olioso, MRSC, managing director of The Green Chemist, will open the Theatre program with ‘Regenerative Beauty with Green Chemistry,’ focusing on eco-design, ethical sourcing, and sustainable packaging. She’ll outline how circular design and innovative materials can create a greener, more equitable future in beauty.

Jacques Courtès, senior account representative at Transparency-One, will present ‘Mapping your Supply Chain and Tackling Worldwide Regulations,’ showing how businesses can manage supply chains, mitigate social risks, and meet ESG goals through efficient data collection and compliance tracking.

In ‘Sourcing & Valuing Low Carbon Products,’ Kelly Gilroy, vice president of commercial sustainability at Univar Solutions, will explore the rising demand for low-carbon products and how Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data can help brands achieve their sustainability targets.

Mélanie Marquis Schiffer, sustainability project manager at Symrise, will share the company’s approach in ‘Integrating Planetary Boundaries into Portfolio Management.’ She’ll explain how the planetary boundaries framework helps reduce emissions, conserve biodiversity, and ensure responsible sourcing.

Sophie Roelants, COO of AmphiStar, will lead a session on biosurfactants derived from local waste, such as supermarket and agri-food by-products. These circular biosurfactants can replace traditional ingredients without competing with food production, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of products.

At the Sustainability Pavilion, experts and suppliers will connect on sustainable beauty practices. Companies like Ecovia Intelligence, Fairglow, and Natrue will feature solutions in consultancy, accreditation, packaging, and life cycle analysis to enhance transparency and reduce environmental impact.

Roziani Zulkifli, event director, in-cosmetics Global, says, "Sustainability has been a core part of the beauty industry for a long time, and it’s essential to keep pushing for new solutions that benefit both consumers and the planet. Whether through innovative technologies, alternative solutions, or new ways of sourcing and creating ingredients, the Sustainability Zone offers an expansive hub for the personal care community to explore these new, creative ideas. It also helps ensure the industry is prepared for evolving regulations and policies while supporting companies in making the necessary changes to stay ahead."
