Finalists: 2024 Best Functional Ingredient
The shortlisted nominees for the Best Functional Ingredient category are:
- Brasca, with Idrawax Revo, a structuring and emulsifying agent;
- Elementis, with Bentone Hydroluxe360, an all-in-one clay-based emulsifying and stabilizing additive for sensory effects;
- IOI Oleo GmbH, with Dynasan CrystalControl L, a natural vegan ester to help control crystallization processes;
- Kaffe Bueno with Kleanstant,
- Lessonia, with Alter-Emulgel, a 100% natural and plant-based emulsifier,

Winners in the Best Functional Ingredient include:
Gold: Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by ClariantPickmulse. This surfactant-free emulsifier with a powdery-soft touch is designed to facilitate the formulation of Pickering emulsions. Pickmulse features customizable capsules for protecting lipophilic ingredients, enhancing sensory feel, and offering formulators a 2-in-1 solution that balances "formula, skin and mind."
Silver: Wilmar Wilsol SPF Booster. This plant-based, biodegradable SPF enhancer improves the effectiveness of organic and inorganic sunscreens. The multifunctional polymer optimizes UV filter usage, boosting SPF performance by up to threefold while ensuring a smooth, non-tacky and lightweight feel on the skin.
Bronze: IOI Oleo GmbH, Dynasan CrystalControl L. This polymorphic-free ester is derived from polyglycerol and stearic acid. The ingredient combats "blooming," a phenomenon in lipid-based, anhydrous systems where solid components change their crystalline structure, leading to visible white spots on the product's surface.

Winners: 2024 Best Active Ingredient
Gold: Givaudan Active Beauty Neuroglow. This ingredient replicates the sun’s wellness benefits and is sourced sustainably from Persicaria tinctoria in Provence, France. The active stimulates melanin and boosts well-being molecules like beta-endorphin, vitamin D and oxytocin, enhancing mood and skin health.
Silver: Vytrus Biotech Baolift - Your Skin Workout. This 100% natural ingredient simulates physical exercise for facial skin by activating the "exercise secretome," a coordinated molecular response linked to improved muscle tone and skin resilience. The Fit-Skin solution, derived from African baobab stem cells, is said to enhance skin vitality and firmness, leveraging the baobab's strength, longevity and nutritional richness.
Bronze: CODIF TN Pantodium Cica. This organic, fermented seaweed extract was developed to support epidermal regeneration. Through algae fermentation, the ingredient encourages the skin's microbiota to produce natural vitamin B5, aiding hydration, reducing redness and promoting skin repair.

The awards also celebrated the Spotlight On Formulation Award winners, featuring more than 40 formulated personal care ingredients judged live at the show. Winners included the following.

Silver: Bloomage Biotechnology Corp., Ltd., Hybloom Zinc Hyaluronate (HA-Zn)

9 Faces of the APAC Beauty Industry
Finally, the awards honored the 9 Faces of the APAC Beauty Industry. The 9 Faces initiative celebrates the innovators, changemakers and unsung heroes who have significantly contributed to the region's personal care sector. These included:
