On June 2, 2026, the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) launched its new sustainability handbook in collaboration with non-profit organization Forum for the Future. The handbook is intended to help cosmetics and personal care companies better understand sustainability challenges, identify practical responses and develop new business opportunities.
“The industry is already taking important steps to address sustainability challenges, but the pace of change means businesses must also look ahead,” said Nico Shaw Núñez, director of regulation and sustainability at the CTPA. “CTPA’s Sustainability Handbook is about equipping companies with the tools they need to succeed in a changing world and prepare for a complex and fast-evolving operating environment.”
According to the organization’s press release, the handbook, titled “Navigating a Volatile World – A Handbook for the UK Cosmetics Industry,” includes practical and forward-looking guidance for escalating environmental and social challenges. This includes analysis of major global trends affecting the cosmetics sector, guidance on responses to emerging risks, insights into consumer behavior and practical tools and exercises for strategy development.
“The impacts of climate change, water scarcity and inequality are hitting all businesses hard,” said Zoe Le Grand, managing director of Forum for the Future. “We have been delighted to collaborate with CTPA on this handbook and hope that the creative exercises in the book help cosmetics and personal care companies make their businesses more resilient in this fast-changing world.”
Christine Lawson, senior affairs manager of sustainability at CTPA, added, “No matter your role in the development of cosmetics, I hope that this handbook will inspire and equip you to build practical strategies that are both innovative and actionable, for a resilient future.”
The sustainability is available on the CPTA website for free for members and non-members.
