Seppic has inaugurated a dedicated fermentation biotechnology laboratory at the Air Liquide Group’s Innovation Campus in Delaware. The new facility will expand its research capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the cosmetics and health sectors.

Focus on Fermentation for Sustainable Innovation

The laboratory underscores the importance of fermentation as a sustainable and efficient process to develop bio-based ingredients. Traditionally used in food production and preservation, fermentation has expanded into cosmetics and health applications, enabling ingredient development with reduced environmental impact and biodiversity footprint while optimizing land use.

Enhancing R&D Capabilities for Product Developers

The establishment of this specialized fermentation lab will reportedly strengthen Seppic's ability to create innovative, high-performance ingredients. With cutting-edge facilities and expertise, the lab will:

  • focus on combining efficacy with solutions to societal and environmental challenges, and
  • provide product developers access to new ingredient technologies aimed at both performance and sustainability.

Strategic Location for Collaborative Research

Positioned within the Air Liquide Group’s Innovation Campus in Delaware, the laboratory is part of a larger research ecosystem with strong connections to American biotechnology initiatives. Its proximity to Seppic's existing U.S. Customer Technical Service Center, operational since 2007, will further enhance synergies. Collaborations with Air Liquide’s R&D teams and external research entities will additionally ensure a dynamic environment for scientific progress.

Accelerating Global Research Initiatives

This U.S.-based laboratory reportedly reflects Seppic’s commitment to expanding its global research impact, following the recent expansion of its facilities in Castres, France. By leveraging international research hubs, Seppic aims to advance ingredient innovation, benefiting product developers seeking reliable, sustainable solutions aligned with future market needs.

Hannes Moeller, chief executive officer of Seppic, highlighted, "With the opening of this fermentation laboratory in the United States, Seppic reinforces its commitment to pioneering research, enabling the development of performance-enhancing ingredients that address market and societal demands."

This laboratory marks a key step for developers exploring next-generation sustainable ingredient systems backed by robust scientific research.
