Shiseido is growing its global supply chain management base with a new 301,000 sq ft production and distribution facility in Ibaraki, Osaka, Japan. The new factory, for which construction is slated to begin in 2018, is expected to have a production capacity approximately 1.5 times higher than Shiseido’s current facility and to speed time to market throughout Japan and the world. Plans call for a 50% increase in output, with a decline in production costs because of increased reliance on robotics, according to a Bloomberg Business report. Set to produce skin care and other products, operations are scheduled to begin in 2020.
