Spate reports that consumers are paying less attention to self-care as they begin socializing again. Despite less interest in personal care, body butter is one body care category on the rise.

There are 193.9K searches on average every month in the United States for body, which is very high relative to other body care searches. It has grown 9.4% since last year, with 16 market leaders and very high competition.

Top related search terms are eczema, stretch marks and dry skin, indicating that consumers are looking for products that address specific skin problems rather than a basic moisturizer. Consumers are also specifically seeking non-greasy options, according to Spate. In terms of product format, whipped texture average searches increased 19.1% since last year.

There are 12.9K searches on average every month in the United States for orange lipstick, an increase of 90.1% since last year. This is medium volume compared to other lip makeup searches and there are no market leaders.

Top related color combos searched with orange lipstick are red, peach and pink, indicating that consumers are looking for different shade variations while still injecting some bright pop.

Consumers are also searching for different skin tones with orange lipstick—including dark skin, Indian skin, tan skin and Black skin—and “how to use orange lipstick as concealer,” reflecting the versatility of the product.

There are 14.9K searches on average every month in the United States for mesotherapy, which is medium volume relative to other skin care services. That reflects an increase of 38.9% in searches since last year with no market leaders.

Mesotherapy offers minimally invasive, yet deeply penetrating treatments with a variety of perks from anti-aging to contouring, according to Spate.

Mesotherapy uses very fine needles to deliver different ingredients into the middle layer of the skin. Treatments may contain vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid and other components naturally found in healthy skin and many skin care products.

Though primarily searched alongside face, mesotherapy is also recommended for the body where it may help reduce cellulite, while also helping contour and tighten loose skin. Spate points towards multiple trends in body care and a lack of market competition to indicate a rising opportunity for brand innovation.
