Croda Launches Polymer for Targeted Sprays and Suspension

At in-cosmetics in Hamburg, Croda will present a high performance polymer that provides unique properties within emulsion and aqueous applications. Volarest FL (INCI: Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymer) can be used to provide controlled targeted delivery in sprayable emulsions and for weightless suspension of emollient and beads in low viscosity fluids.

The polymer can produce high viscosity systems that are highly shear thinning with immediate recovery of structure. It creates targeted sprays that boast even dispersion of fine droplets and excellent viscosity build-up at low concentrations with no drip from the intended target area. In aqueous-based formulations, the polymer can effectively suspend oils and actives in liquid, flowable gels, creating visually-appealing products for the consumer. In addition to the above applications, the company recommends the polymer for the creation of water lotions, transparent cosmetics rising in popularity in the Asia-Pacific region that provide moisturization after cleansing. The polymer is recommended at 1-2.5% in formulations and is both hot and cold processable.
