Extracted from an organic mandarin co-product, Biolie’s Citruskin (INCI: Water (Aqua) (and) Propanediol (and) Citrus Reticulata Fruit Extract) offers a natural solution to soothe redness and irritation in sensitive and sensitized skin.

In this upcycling concept, Citruskin is obtained through Biolie’s enzymatic extraction process, a solvent-free, eco-process that is COSMOS compliant, according to ISO 16128. In addition to being COSMOS-certified, Citruskin is 80% organic PPAI and 100% natural in origin.

To test the active's protective benefits, researchers examined its effects in skin's innate defenses, including interleukins IL-6 and IL-8. Used at 1%, the active inhibited IL-8 production by up to 93% to decrease skin inflammation.

To assess the active's efficacy against skin redness, the company conducted an in vivo study of 30 women aged 18-60, wherein each was subjected to stripping on the forearm to induce redness. The active was then applied at 2% in a cream or placebo each day for three days to soothe the skin. After 24 hr, the active reduced skin redness by 65% compared with the placebo.
