Skin Fatigue Put to Bed with Ashland Biofunctional

Ashland has energy on the mind; the supplier introduced Suprastim (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (aqua) (and) Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract), a biofunctional intended to relieve visible signs of skin fatigue and aging.

Stress in today’s fast-paced world can generate cortisol, which, in turn, contributes to skin aging by sparking dehydration and collagen breakdown. According to Ashland, Suprastim can combat this by helping to control the 11β-HSD1 enzyme to regulate cortisol levels.

The ingredient is also meant to revive skin and re-balance skin cells’ natural energy for a glowing appearance. Formulations including the ingredient are intended to increase collagen production and reduce skin pigmentation, while providing antioxidant properties.

These antioxidant effects are courtesy of camu camu—a superfruit otherwise known as the “youth berry”—which reportedly provides five times the antioxidant properties of green tea, along with 30–60 times the vitamin C content of an orange.

In Ashland’s 2D and 3D testing, volunteers showed reduced signs of skin fatigue and increased luminosity after use.
