Ultra Chemical highlights Valida S+ (INCI: Cellulose (and) Cellulose Gum), manufactured by Sappi. The highly fibrillated cellulose is designed to stabilize particles in suspension and o/w emulsions — without the need for an emulsifier.
Low Dosage, Minimum Impact and Soft Focus
According to Ultra Chemical, the ingredient is effective at low dosages and minimally impacts viscosity, offering high thixotropy and excellent shear-thinning properties. It therefore is ideal for spray applications where suspension without dripping is critical, per the company.
In addition to improving spreadability and texture, Valida S+ is said to provide a wrinkle-filling, skin-smoothing blurring effect that enhances both the look and feel of formulations.
The ingredient is recommended for:
- aqueous systems,
- serums,
- creams,
- o/w emulsions, and
- color cosmetics.
It also serves as a versatile bio-based additive sourced from PEFC- and FSC-certified forests, the company highlights.
Format Options for Different Textures
Valida S+ is available in two formats: CS-3 (a 3% gel) and CS-8 (an 8% paste) — both preserved with sodium benzoate and citric acid, and COSMOS approved. Applications include hair care, skin and color cosmetics and sun care, with recommended use levels of > 5% for paste and > 12% for gel.
