On March 4, 2026, Givaudan Active Beauty announced the publication of new efficacy insights that strengthen its hyaluronic acid portfolio, which focuses on protection, repair and penetration for both hair fibers and skin.

“Hyaluronic acid is often perceived as a single-function ingredient, but our work clearly shows that its performance depends on molecular design, delivery systems and biological context,” said Mathias Fleury, head of actives at Givaudan Active Beauty. “By leveraging biotechnology and advanced characterization tools, we are setting new benchmarks for HA performance, not only in skincare but also in high-performance haircare.”

The company published new efficacy insights for four of its hyaluronic acid ingredients:

  • PrimalHyal Hydra [+]: New data confirms PrimalHyal Hydra [+] protects hair fibers, even in rinse-off conditions. Further, the ingredient has strong affinity with the hair surface, ensuring lasting benefits. The active ingredient helps repair hair damaged by thermal and mechanical aggressions, improving the overall quality of the fiber.
  • ResistHyal: This ingredient is specifically designed to address damaged hair and adapts its behavior to the condition of the fiber. It acts mainly on the surface of healthy hair while delivering targeted repair to compromised fibers. The company says this intelligent mode of action leaves hair smoother, stronger and easier to style.
  • PrimalHyal Ultrafiller: PrimalHyal Ultrafiller demonstrated long-lasting hydration benefits on the skin and measurable improvements that persisted up to 24 hours after application. Further, the ingredient supports the structural integrity of the skin and helps limit the degradation of key extracellular matrix components under stressful conditions.
  • Spherulite HA Ultimate: This ingredient was developed on a natural-origin chassis in accordance with ISO 16128 and delivers active ingredients deeply and evenly within the skin. This offers an optimized delivery system that promotes consistent performance across the skin.

Givaudan Active Beauty’s experts believe that these new insights will further establish the company as an expert in the development of next-generation hyaluronic acid-based active ingredients.
