A water-free or even water reduced personal and oral care product can be technically challenging, according to Omya. The Omya R&D team has developed anhydrous formulations with minerals such as Omyaskin (INCI: Hydroxyapatite (and) Calcium Carbonate) and Omyadent (INCI: Hydroxyapatite (and) Calcium Carbonate) particles. The resulting prototypes are easy to disperse and offer a sensorial experience, according to the company.
Also on show will be Cosmospheres (INCI: Varies), a natural ingredient solution that concentrates actives and ensures their release during application. Suitable for many personal care formulations, the cellulosic beads may keep liquid or powdered actives contained in products formulated with water, per Omya.
The swollen Cosmospheres maintain their spherical shape throughout the shelf life of the product; gentle friction during application then allows the spheres to break and release their content while leaving no residue. The Charcoal Cosmospheres toothpaste will be on display at in-cos Global.
For makeup and color cosmetics, Omya offers combinations of Omyacare (INCI: Not Provided) grades and natural colorants from the distribution portfolio. A sensory hub at the booth will provide the opportunity to view and feel prototypes.
Stefan Lander, vice president consumer goods, group sales and marketing at Omya, commented: “For more than 130 years, Omya has been closely connected to natural, high-quality raw materials. Therefore, we are committed to treating the environment sustainably to ensure innovations that promise to protect the needs of current and future generations. We feel proud to contribute to natural, renewable and pioneering solutions that respect nature, biodiversity and the importance of human health.”
