Lipotec, a Lubrizol company, has introduced an active that fights cellulite at night. Nocturshape blue ingredient (INCI: Water (aqua) (and) Propanediol (and) Disodium Phosphate (and) Xanthan Gum (and) Plankton Extract (and) Sodium Phosphate (and) Glyceryl Caprylate) is an exopolysaccharide that has been obtained through biotechnology from a planktonic microorganism.
The active targets the expression of the circadian gene nocturnin in adipocytes, which peaks at early night. By reducing its levels, it reduces lipid accumulation. The stimulation of lipolysis has been significant in vitro at the tested concentration in synchronized cells during the differentiation process. Moreover, fat reduction was more effective with the active than with caffeine. Its slimming profile is completed with its efficacy in reinforcing the dermal matrix through type I collagen, what contributes to reducing visible fat nodules that characterizes cellulite.
The active is said to reduce cellulite in 15 days. The active can be incorporated into body care formulations claiming global anti-cellulite, slimming and firming properties with specific nighttime application.
