Lyondell Offers Anhydrous Isopropyl Alcohol

Lyondell Chemical Company  will begin supplying anhydrous isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in January 2008. The company will produce IPA at its chemical complex in Channelview, Texas, USA.

IPA is a widely used solvent for cleaners and coatings. It is used, for example, in paints, inks, household cleaners, lacquers and thinners for wood finishing, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, disinfectants and deicing fluids. IPA is also an important chemical intermediate needed for the manufacture of methyl isobutyl ketone, isopropyl acetate, isopropylamines and other products.
