Title: Organic Colloidal Oatmeal and Oat Flour
  • Article

Oat Cosmetics is launching organic versons of its best-selling natural oat flours at SCS Formulate. The company will now offer organic (Ecocert) accredited versions of its Colloidal Oatmeal (INCI: Avena Sativa Kernel Meal) and its Superfine Oat Flour P (INCI: Avena Sativa Kernel Flour).

The colloidal oatmeal, Oat COM ORG, and superfine oat flour, Oat SOF ORG, maintain the anti-inflammatory, anti-itch, antioxidant and protective properties that are available in the certified natural ingredients. These oat flours are versatile cleansers and moisturizers that soothe and protect damaged skin and can also now be used in organic formulations. While Oat COM ORG is recommended as an active in creams, lotions and powders, Oat SOF ORG provides a silky feel in topical applications.

These organic versions are manufactured using a patent-pending extrusion process, which solubilizes the oat kernels to produce a natural or organic oatmeal without the need to process the oats extensively. The ingredients are adaptable for pH and temperature when formulating and offer a low cost ‘active’ base for creams and lotions due to the unique composition of beta glucans, avenanthramides, phenolics and saponins within the whole oat kernel.
