
Covation Biomaterials has appointed Steven Ackerman as its new chief executive officer. Ackerman brings 15 years of specialized experience in sustainable materials, with a track record in advancing high-performance bio-based products for global markets, per the company
Ackerman succeeds Dean Trivits, who served as CEO following Michael Saltzberg’s retirement in 2023.
Since joining DuPont Biomaterials in 2010 and continuing through the creation of Covation Biomaterials in 2022, Ackerman has reportedly been central to the global growth, technical advancement and innovation especially for the company's Sorona fiber business.
Most recently, as vice president of product and technology, he deepened the connectivity between the company’s global technology teams and its sales, marketing and customer functions, the company reports. His approach ensured that innovation efforts directly addressed market needs and facilitated new applications of Sorona polymer in fibers.
“As we move forward, we’ll embrace this collaborative approach as an essential ingredient for progress, expansion into new markets and the creation of new sustainable solutions that benefit everyone in our industry, offer value to our end consumers, and respect our planet," said Ackerman.
Ackerman holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from Lehigh University and a master’s degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Delaware.
