BASF, Henkel Commit to Renewable Raw Materials

BASF and Henkel announced a joint commitment to replace fossil carbon feedstock with renewable feedstock for products in Henkel’s European laundry, home and beauty care businesses over the next four years. The duo previously collaborated on Henkel’s cleaning and detergent brand Love Nature.

The two companies claim the partnership will see around 110,000 tons per year of fossil-based ingredients substituted with renewable carbon sources using BASF’s certified biomass balance approach. As a result, Henkel’s core brands like Persil, Pril, Fa and Schauma will reduce its total CO2 emissions by around 200,000 tons.
