The Analytical Scientist, a publication focused on innovations shaping measurement science, presented LECO Corp.'s Pegasus BTX Benchtop GC-TOFMS (gas chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometry) with a 2024 Innovation Award thanks in part to its small size. "Another nice invention from LECO: A GC-MS with a small footprint,” the judges noted.
Pegasus BTX Benchtop GC-TOFMS Features
Per the company, besides its small size, the Pegasus BTX also features:
- a reimagined detector with an increased lifetime, reportedly allowing LECO to be the first in the industry to offer a two-year warranty on a mass spectrometer detector; and
- Leco's StayClean ion source, which is said to promote ultra-efficiency by saving labs time from routine maintenance.
“This award acknowledges our product development team's dedication to creating an innovative solution to the challenges facing today’s laboratories,” said Farai Rukunda, director of LECO separation science. “... [We were] able to deliver an instrument that offers industry-leading speed and sensitivity in a compact, maintenance-friendly design that minimizes downtime."
About the Innovation Awards
Originally launched in 2013, the Innovation Awards are presented to the top 15 innovative analytical tools released in that calendar year, nominated by readers of The Analytical Scientist and judged by a panel of leaders within the field.
