Kumar Organic Products recently inaugurated its Research Center Cell Biology Lab. The lab will support the company's investigation, development and efficacy testing of bioferments, specialty ingredients and formulations for safer, more effective skin and hair care products.

The lab will eliminate the need for animal testing by using human skin cell cultures and models for various assays, including: irritation potential, skin regeneration, melanogenic effects, anti-inflammatory benefits, UV protection, anti-allergic effects, keratinocyte proliferation, human dermal papilla cell effects, collagen synthesis, hyaluronic acid production, etc., apart from cytotoxicity and genotoxicity tests.
The occasion was presided over by G. Jeyaraman, Ph.D., director of the Kumar Organic Products Research Center (KRC). Prof. Samir K. Brahmachari, Ph.D., academy professor and former director of the CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, led the official inauguration. Vinay Kumar Singh, head of formulation, also performed a ceremony to bring success to the new lab. Many other dignitaries were present to celebrate the occasion.
