Oat Cosmetics has released long-term clinical trial results on their range of optimized extruded colloidal oatmeal, Oat COM. The results show that even at a small inclusion rate of 3%, this colloidal oatmeal displays rapid and sustained anti-aging effects.
Over the 90 day trial, 86% of the subjects felt that the product consistently left their skin feeling moisturized, 80% felt it created a feeling that the skin was silky soft and 73% agreed that it soothed the skin. In addition, 79% of subjects agreed that the products nourished their skin over the 90 day period.
An independent consumer research facility conducted a single placement study over 90 days, using a market-relevant facial cream once per day. 53 female subjects were trialled, all over the age of 40 years old, who were selected to ensure the three skin types of normal, sensitive and dry skin were equally represented. Subjects were asked a number of questions at the initial assessment, and on day 30, 60, and 90. The subjects stated that on initial application the product absorbed easily, was non-greasy and left no tacky after feel, in addition they felt it left their skin feeling soft after use.
The trial demonstrated that the extruded colloidal oatmeal could be an effective active across all three skin types contributing anti-aging properties by moisturizing, nourishing and soothing the skin.
“Oat COM delivers such staggering results in comparison to other colloidal oatmeal because it is manufactured from carefully selected high β-glucan varieties of oat (Avena sativa) and a unique extrusion process is employed to improve its activity and functionality. The trial underpins our confidence that our advanced colloidal oatmeal, Oat COM, is a proven and effective active ingredient for skin care creams and lotions," noted Angus Robertson, business development manager of Oat Cosmetics.
