'A dewy finish and sense of moisturization,' are a few words Myriam Abderrachid, product marketing manager at Gattefossé, used to describe the emulsion created in this formulation demo.

Cosmetics & Toiletries toured the company's labs and watched Emulium Illustro (INCI: Polyglyceryl-6 Polyhydroxystearate (and) Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate) in action. This ingredient was designed to provide superior performance and stability compared with other w/o emulsifiers. It is also compatible with ingredients ranging from emollients, film formers and polymers, to pearlescent agents, powders and stabilizers.

Natural and cold-processable, it can form ultra-fluid to thick textures without a co-emulsifier. As such, it can be used to formulate novel textures for skin care.
