Water-soluble Silicone Wax for Clear, Silky-feeling Formulations

Grant Industries Inc. has created a water-soluble silicone wax that delivers a lubricious, silky feel to water-based products such as face toners, serums, gels, wipes and body washes. Gransil VX-406 (INCI: Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane) has a clear appearance when dissolved in water (at any concentration) and provides sensory aesthetics due to the wax's polymer structure.

The structure has a balanced ratio of lipophilic silicone to hydrophilic polyether to provide 100% water-solubility without oil droplets or a hazy appearance. In addition to the above attributes, the wax also reportedly has a moisturizing effect through its occlusive silicone structure.

The wax is said to be effective at low concentrations (2-3%) for cost value. Its appearance is translucent to opaque. It has a 29-35°C melting point and a shelf life of three years in a closed container.
