Curie Co. has introduced AmpliPQ, a next-generation preservation system that significantly extends the antimicrobial effectiveness of sodium benzoate up to pH 8.5 — far beyond its traditional range, per the company.

Water Soluble, Broad Spectrum Protection

AmpliPQ (proposed INCI: Sodium Benzoate (and) EDTA (and) Polyamine) is described as a water-soluble, broad-spectrum preservative that combines sodium benzoate with a proprietary pH adjuvant and chelating agent. This combination enables formulators to develop phenoxyethanol-free, clean-label products without compromising microbial protection.

Formulation Considerations and Applications

Designed for both leave-on and rinse-off personal care applications, AmpliPQ is odorless, colorless and compatible with fragrance and color, making it relatively easy to integrate across a range of products, including:

  • Hand care,
  • Hair care,
  • Skin care and
  • Body care.

Recommended usage levels are 2% for leave-on products and 3% for rinse-off formulations.

Retailer and Regulation Compliant

AmpliPQ is compliant with U.S. and EU cosmetic regulations and meets retailer clean beauty standards, including Walmart Clean Beauty, Target Clea, and Ulta Conscious Beauty. It is also free from parabens, formaldehyde donors, isothiazolinones and phenoxyethanol, addressing both regulatory and consumer safety concerns

"With this launch, we’re giving formulators a proven preservative with modern functionality,” said Erika Milczek, CEO of Curie Co. “It’s a simple yet powerful solution that bridges regulatory, consumer and performance needs, without compromise.”
