Sun Chemical is set to debut two "electrifying" metallic effect pigments during in-cosmetics Global 2025 in Amsterdam. Reflecting the growing demand for bold, vegan and carmine-free color additives, Chione Electric Scarlet SR90D and Chione Electric Sienna SC90D will demonstrate advanced technologies to enhance cosmetic formulations with stunning vibrancy, per the company. In addition, the company's Timica Terra pigments, to be highlighted in the Makeup Bar, meet the need for color plus care and inclusive shades.

The bold metallic effect pigments include:
- Chione Electric Scarlet SR90D, providing an intense red shimmer for striking, high-impact formulations, and
- Chione Electric Sienna SC90D, offering a radiant copper finish with enhanced chroma for unique, warm-toned beauty products.
Both pigments are globally approved as color additives and are non-staining, non-bleeding and UV-stable — providing durability and versatility for applications across cosmetics, skin care, body care and sun care.
Ed Webb, global director of cosmetics at Sun Chemical, noted, “Since the success of our Chione Electric Fuchsia effect pigment, customers have been eager for expanded options to meet the growing demand for bold, carmine-free colors. We’re thrilled to introduce these strong new additions for formulators creating innovative, vegan beauty products.”
Timica Terra Pigments Impart Color + Care
Recognizing the trend toward cosmetics with skin care benefits, Sun Chemical will also highlight its Timica Terra effect pigments on the Makeup Bar at in-cosmetics global. These mica-based pigments are reportedly ideal for creating multifunctional and inclusive products.
Features include:
- Designed to produce skin tone shades with coverage and radiance,
- Simplify manufacturing processes - with no milling or grinding required, and
- Demonstrate excellent oil absorption properties, support cosmetic stability and ease of use.
Timica Terra pigments are thus positioned to empower formulators to create hybrid products that bridge the gap between makeup and skin care.
