Senior Scientist Elected as President of ACS

Thomas H. Lane, senior scientist and director of global science and technology outreach at Dow Corning, has been elected the 2009 president of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Lane will serve as the ACS president in 2009 and as a member of the ACS board of directors from 2008 to 2010. Lane has emphasized the need for education and science literacy. He maintains that the ACS should ensure that people understand the power of chemistry.
