Synthetic copolymers are typically available in aqueous solutions. As liquids, they can be directly incorporated into a formulation without any preparation (warming, declumping, dissolving,e tc.), allowing for cold processing, and avoiding the concerns often associated with powders (dustiness, hygroscopic nature, etc.).
