Modified Film-former for Flexible, Smooth Feel

Shin-Etsu Silicones of America recently launched its NBN-30-ID product (INCI: Isododecane (and) Norbornene/Tris(Trimethylsiloxy) Silylnorbornene Copolymer) based on the introduction of a silicone group into polynorbornene, a rigid polymer. It can act as both a film-former and viscosity modifier.

As a film-former, the material provides a long-lasting, hard film with high flexibility that can prevent color-transfer and impart gloss. The high viscosity fluid also imparts a smooth, non-tacky feel. It can be used in a diverse range of formulations that offer excellent resistance to oil or water, for a range of applications including foundations, eye shadows, mascaras, lipsticks, skin lotions, creams, sunscreens, hair care and more. It is particularly recommended for mascara formulations.
