M&A firm, ThinkingLinking, conducted a five-year study focusing on the global consolidation among cosmetic ingredients producers. The study's findings were gathered into a report titled “Alchemists Go Shopping.”
According to ThinkingLinking, from 2012-2016 there were fifty acquisitions in cosmetic ingredients businesses worth over €2 billion made by 45 buyers from 16 countries. These acquisitions have transformed the sector from a diverse market of niche producers of individual ingredients in individual countries into an industry of multi-ingredient-multi-country providers. The company states that there are no signs that the trend is set to stop.
