As previously reported, Sederma's BB-Biont (INCI: Glycerin (and) Water (Aqua) (and) Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4) is a biomimetic peptide designed to smooth the appearance of pockmarks. The ingredient recently received the "I Feel Good Award 2022" for innovation, recognizing the company's peptide expertise, Sederma reports.

The ingredient is positioned as a gentle alternative to aesthetic medicine, improving the skin tone and surface by rebalancing the its holobiont; the holobiont is described as the supra-organism between the human body and the microbiome. BB-Biont is designed to slow the growth of Cutibacterium acnes and deconstruct its biofilm to avoid inflammatory skin damage.

Pascale Rossi, marketing director, said: “At Sederma, we think that this kind of holistic active ingredient, promoting a sustainable and healthy beauty approach, represents the future of cosmetics.” Rossi continues, “that’s the reason why we strongly value this [prize] attributed by a judging panel composed of Chantal Soutarson from Beauty Toaster, Pascale Brousse from Trend Sourcing and Célia Favre from Umaï.”
