Evonik and IMCD announced they have reached an agreement on the distribution of Evonik’s range of sodium and potassium alkoxides in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Nordics, France, Spain, Portugal and The Netherlands.
These products form an important chemical substance category, used in a wide variety of reactions and applications. The alkoxides can be used as both reagents and catalysts in applications and markets including pharma and health care, flavors and additives, and industrial chemical manufacturing.
As of June 1, 2020, IMCD will distribute the materials into industrial and pharmaceutical markets, supporting existing customers and growing the business further. Omega 3 markets are not included in the agreement.
“We are delighted to announce this new distribution partnership–which combines the strength of both parties as leaders in the specialty chemicals sector,” Alexander Weber, vice president alkoxides and potassium derivatives, business line functional solutions, said. “The combination of Evonik’s focus on innovation and state-of-the-art product quality and services, coupled with IMCD’s commitment to technically driven sales and customer proximity form a solid foundation for the future of this partnership and the success of both companies.”
“We are extremely pleased to be working with Evonik, the global leader in sodium and potassium alkoxides,” Chris Young, director, regulated synthesis, said. “IMCD’s in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical and industrial synthesis markets will enable us to serve the existing customers as well as allowing opportunities to grow the business for this key range of products.”
