BASF’s newest ingredient is a novel solution for personal care formulators in need of a renewable, amphoteric surfactant. Consumer demand for more sustainable and traceable surfactants have increased significantly in the home and personal care markets. Combining BASF’s chemistry expertise with Solazyme’s unique range of renewable Microalgae Oils allows us to deliver against this demand.

Dehyton® AO 45 (INCI: Capric/Lauric/Myristic/Oleic Amidopropyl Betaine) is a mild betaine that can be used in various applications including shampoos, liquid hand soaps, body washes and more. This new algal betaine is a high-performance alternative that will contribute to a rich and gentle foam, as well as help with effective viscosity building in rinse-off formulations. Other benefits include ability to be cold processed, being unpreserved, easy solubility, and domestic production in the US.

Dehyton® AO 45 is produced with Solazyme AlgaPūr(TM) Microalgae Oils. These oils are produced with Solazyme’s state-of-the-art technology that uses a highly controlled fermentation process to convert sugarcane into oils of the highest purity and performance. AlgaPur Microalgae Oils are produced with low carbon, water, and land-use impact.
