Lipotec has designed a novel antioxidant with detoxifying properties that is shown to improve wrinkles and reduce the melanin index in skin.

As the company explains, pollution negatively affects the health of skin, as it is the first in a line of the body's defenses and subject to assaults. Further, our lifestyles not only involve exposure to foreign substances, but also the production of reactive species within the body. These are very stable and difficult to eliminate, and can accumulate in the body over time, causing allergies and inflammation, and accelerating signs of aging such as wrinkles, sagging and pigmentation.

Inspired by natural vitamins, the Lipochroman molecule (INCI: Dimethylmethoxy Chromanol) is designed to confer triple protection against reactive species. This antioxidant provides detoxification properties has been shown to improve wrinkles and to reduce the melanin index, homogenizing skin tone.

In a recent clinical test, Asian volunteers between the ages of 18 and 44 years applied a cream containing 0.05% of the product to randomized half sides of the face and a placebo cream on the other half. After 14, 28 and 56 days, the melanin index in the skin was measured by mexametry, which assesses light reflectance by the skin.

In just 14 days, the melanin index of the side treated with the new active was reduced up to 6.9%. This percentage increased in 28 days to 9.4% and in 56 days to 13.3%, demonstrating a demelanizing effect of the ingredient and leading to a fairer complexion.

The product is recommended for formulations aiming to prevent premature skin aging due to environmental aggressors, as well as those targeting the accumulation of melanin and protecting against oxidation. It is a comprehensive solution to fight pollutants and prevent premature skin aging.
