Imerys recently introduced a new cosmetic-grade mica designed to replicate the softness and sensory profile of talc in face powders. The material, called MicaSilk, is suitable for pressed and loose powders, eye shadows and blushes.
Natural, Sustainable Sourcing
MicaSilk is sourced from Imerys’ wholly owned operation in Ploemeur, Brittany, and is produced without chemical treatments. Per the company, it is derived from a 100% natural mineral and is COSMOS-approved, aligning with rising consumer expectations for natural and sustainably sourced beauty ingredients.
Particle Precision and Strong Cohesion
Thanks to its engineered particle structure and high lamellarity, MicaSilk reportedly offers:
- strong cohesion in pressed formulations,
- effective oil absorption for a matte finish, and
- a smooth, creamy texture.
Independent panel tests confirmed its performance is comparable to talc in terms of softness, adhesion, transparency and overall skin feel, Imerys reports.
