Carvacrol used as an active ingredient has lower cytotoxicity than retinol used as an antiwrinkle agent. It also inhibits collagenase activity and promotes collagen biosynthesis at a molecular level. Matrine and oxymatrine have lower cytotoxicity than retinol when used as an antiwrinkle agent. They also inhibit collagenase activity and promote collagen biosynthesis at a molecular level.
