To make polymer, particularly pH responsive polymers, the patent utilizes a monomer compound that contains at least one polymerizable functional group per molecule, and at least one bicycloheptyl-, bicycloheptenyl-, or branched (C5-C42)alkyl-polyether radical per molecule, wherein the bicycloheptyl- or bicycloheptenyl-polyether radical may optionally be substituted on one or more of the ring carbon atoms by one or two (C1-C6)alkyl groups per ring carbon atom.
Compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds
US Patent 8071114
Publication Date: Dec. 6, 2011
Assignee: Novagli Pharma S.A.
This invention relates to pharmaceutical, ophthalmic or cosmetic compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds, more preferably to ophthalmic emulsions being useful for eye care or for the treatment of eye conditions. This invention also relates to compositions including at least one quaternary ammonium compound as cationic agent. This invention relates to compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 12 carbon atoms, characterized in that said composition includes at least 20% w/w ammonium halides in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 14 carbon atoms and is preferably more than 7% w/w ammonium halides in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 16 carbon atoms. This invention also relates to ophthalmic o/w emulsions containing such compositions, said ophthalmic emulsions being useful for eye care or for the treatment of eye conditions.
Personal care applications of emulsions containing elastomeric silanes and siloxanes with nitrogen atoms
US Patent 8071079
Publication Date: Dec. 6, 2011
Assignee: Dow Corning Corp.
O/W and w/o emulsions and microemulsions containing elastomeric silanes or siloxanes preferably having quaternary ammonium groups are generally made by reacting organic quaternary ammonium compounds having epoxide groups or halohydrin groups, with silanes or siloxanes having amino groups. The reaction is carried out in an aqueous polar phase containing a crosslinking agent and surfactant. The emulsions and microemulsions are especially useful for treating hair, skin or the underarm.
