Posted: February 20, 2007
France has prohibited the use of
vitamin KI (INCI: Phytonadione) from all cosmetic products. The country decided to ban the ingredient's use after six individuals had allergic reactions to the substance. The banning is under Article 12 of the Cosmetics Directive. Although the ingredient may be useful in other fields, i.e. as a blood coagulant during surgery, its use in cosmetics was deemed nonessential.
