David Smith Named Executive Director of the SCC

David Smith has been named the executive director of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC). His new position officially began on Nov. 4, 2013.

Smith joins the SCC from the New York Academy of Science, where he has worked as business development director since 2007. He also worked at the Practicing Law Institute. He graduated from Bennington College with a bachelor's of arts degree in literature and minor in biology. Smith is familiar with the world of associations/non-profits and has extensive experience in developing new partnerships to enhance business opportunities and relationships. He has excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and is very familiar with budgets, meetings and membership databases.

Smith will help move the SCC move forward with new ideas about long term planning and will immediately get involved with our website redesign and planning for the IFSCC Congress in 2016.

The SCC is grateful for the help of their search committee, including Dawn Burke-Colvin, Tony O'lenick, Perry Romanowsk,  Lisa Jones and Kelly Dobos, for their help in reviewing all the resumes, followed by phone interviews and ultimately in-person interviews with the top four candidates. The resumes were supplied by a search firm dealing with non-profits.

Smith will be in attendance at the Annual Scientific Meeting and Technology Showcase, and is excited to start his role with the SCC.
