At the in-cosmetics Asia Awards Ceremony on Nov. 7, 2012, Cosmetics & Toiletries announced the winners for the 2012 Cosmetics & Toiletries R&D Awards—Asia.
DSM Nutritional Products Asia Pacific won for SYN-TC, an anti-aging complex that delivers smoother skin in just 28 days by boosting collagen formation quickly and effectively with three peptides combined to stimulate different types of collagen: dermal collagens I and III, as well as the D.E.J. collagens IV, VI and XVII—all in one. Studies confirm a visible smoothing benefit and rapid action.
L'Oréal won for its Shu Uemura Whitefficient Duo. The Whitefficient UV Under Base Brightening Mousse contains a “trans-glow complex” based on an iridescent pearl that emits blue light, for an anti-yellow effect, and an inner-glow-agent. In conjunction, the Whitefficient Clear Gentle Brightening Cleansing Oil removes melanin-filled, aged cells with a system incorporating vitamin C in a polymer designed to protect it from oxidation without blocking its brightening activity. It also includes Ceramide White to promote brightness; prune extract to limit melanin transfer; algae white to support mitochondrial activity and form new skin cells; and a fruit acid mix to remove melanin-containing dead surface cells.
“This is the inaugural year for Cosmetics & Toiletries' R&D Awards—Asia and we could not be more excited about the outcome. All of the entries we received were very innovative in different ways," said Rachel Grabenhofer, editor of Cosmetics & Toiletries. “We are excited about the attention these awards will bring to the Asian market and are happy to be able to partner with in-cosmetics Asia for additional exposure and greater reach into this marketplace.” Grabenhofer explained the judging panel ranks each entry on a scale from 1-5 for both significance to the industry and long-term impact, and that each entry had to specifically target the Asian market.
To be presented at in-cosmetics in Paris on April16, 2013, the Cosmetics & Toiletries R&D Awards recognize the science behind the final product and allow both suppliers and manufacturers to bring greater exposure to their innovative technology and product launches.
Nominations are reviewed by an esteemed panel of international experts, who select the winners for two categories—Best New Ingredient and Most Creative Application. Each entry is judged not only for its significance to the industry but also for its long-term impact.
Nominations are due November 15, 2012. Submit your nomination today!
