A great deal of work has been done in recent years to prepare liquid esters that provide benefits in hair and skin. One very important benefit of such a product, depending upon the exact structure, is moisturization. The mechanism of moisturization is generally based upon the deposition of an oil on the skin to act as a barrier to transepidermal water loss.
