At NYSCC's Suppliers' Day 2013, Naturex introduced Magic of Africa, its new line of extracts sourced from the continent with efficacy, eco-responsibility and sustainability in mind.
The line has debuted with five botanicals: Kola Nut (INCI: Cola Nitida Seed Extract), Kigelia (INCI: Kigelia Africana Extract), Hibiscus (INCI: Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract), Green Coffee (INCI: Coffea Robusta Extract) and Green Rooibos (INCI: Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract).
Both Green Coffee and Kola Nut were sourced from the Ivory Coast. While Kola Nut is used for its anti-cellulite action, Green Coffee is used for anti-aging, firming, antioxidant, slimming and oral care applications. Although Kola Nut is a well-known anti-cellulite ingredient, it can also be used to fight against dark circles and puffiness in eye care and fight rosacea.
Sourced from Burkina Faso and Nigeria, Hibiscus contains a high amount of antioxidants such as anthocyanins, polyphenols and flavanoids. The extract was also shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
Green Rooibus, sourced from South Africa, is largely recommended for its soothing properties to treat skin disorders such as eczema, diaper rash and acne. It has also been found to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Also for its soothing properties, the company sourced Kigelia from Togo. This extract also has antibacterial properties; therefore, providing a two-pronged approach to acne.
