The CAS Registry now boasts 40 million organic and inorganic substances, according to the organization. The threshold-breaking substance was reportedly an azulenobenzofuran derivative, registered under 1073662-18-6. The organization has assigned more than 100 million CAS numbers to organic and inorganic substances and biosequences.
