Croda International Plc. has been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its commitment to a deforestation-free supply chain.

The company was awarded an A- for 2018 for its Forestry Disclosure, up from a B in 2017. Croda’s commitment to limiting its environmental impact through the supply chain has included:

  • Supplying RSPO-certified palm oil derivatives
  • Making sure two of its sites that handle palm oil derivatives became RSPO Certified (bringing the number of certified sites across the group to 14)
  • Stretching targets, which will see the company only supply RSPO-certified palm oil ingredients (the transition is nearly complete in Croda’s consumer products business)

Additionally, the company received a B- and B in water and carbon disclosures, respectively.

“Sustainability runs throughout our business, at every level and across all our operations. We are continually looking for opportunities to continue to reduce negative impact on the planet whilst also developing the ingredients of the future for our customers and their consumers,” said Terry Thistlethwaite, vice president, sustainability.

He continued: “To have our focus on managing our environmental performance, across all areas of our business recognized in this way by the CDP is fantastic.”
